SooYoung Oh, RA, Principal at DeArch Architecture P.C

SooYoung Oh has over 30 years of professional in designing high-end commercial interiors and residential buildings in New York and other States in US and in Asia. As the founding Principal of DeArch Architecture P.C, SooYoung Oh is responsible for more than 10 million square feet of base building and interior design work. He has designed high profile award-winning commercial, residential, and corporate buildings, as well as retail interiors. He has worked extensively in the United States and designed projects abroad in Asia. More than a dozen design-award winning with professional architectural experience and a solid track record has designed and managed from Interior design to large-scale multi-use complexes and led from beginning to sign off. Small scale of interior renovation and multi-use residential complexes, schools, hotels and are also part of his portfolio. He has an architectural license in multiple states in the US. He is a registered Architects and a NCRB Certified Architect in the US. He received his Master Degree in architecture from Columbia University in New York and from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His academic achievements are on various publications.

Prior to the founding DeArch Architecture P.C, he had worked at SLCE Architects for 10 years as the head of the design department. He has designed over 30 high-rise buildings at SLCE Architects, including three Trump Residential Buildings on Manhattan’s upper west side, the Chelsea Stratus (Luxury condominium) on 101 West 24th Street in Midtown Manhattan, Monaco (two 50-story towers) with 523 unit’s luxury apartment with garage parking in Jersey City and others.

Ho Lee, Senior Associate at DeArch Architecture P.C

Ho Lee is a senior associate of Dearch Architecture P.C, has led a wide range of projects with a diverse client base over 18 years. He is a versatile architect that continually finds new ways to innovate and create outstanding projects for our clients. From affordable and luxury interior space to high-end new buildings, from tenant fit-outs for city and non-profits to corporate interior design, he relies on his belief that the quality of our built environment adds value to our everyday lives. His expertise in management and technical applications is a strong contributing factor in establishing Dearch Architecture P.C as a firm that produces projects of quality. Another area of interest is larger scale construction for the multi-family residential and hospitality sectors with the design that reflect an instinct to use an expression of a building’s structure to define its aesthetic.

He has a solid architectural and Interior work experience with hundreds DOB filing projects over 600,000 S.F in New York and New Jersey. His recent projects include 206 East 119th Street in New York, New Jersey rental residential building with 180,000 S.F, a new residential building with a 25-unit luxury condominium for the New York City, the Bank of Hope at 474 Sylvan Avenue, Fort Lee in New Jersey and a new dental hospital building at 2033 Center Avenue, Fort Lee in New Jersey. He holds professional degree in Architecture from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at City University of New York.

Steve Harwood, P.E. Structure Engineer

Steve Harwood has 46 years of extensive experience in structural engineering and have analyzed and designed various structural systems for hurricane, blast zone, and seismic forces. He received my BSCE at SUNY Buffalo, in 1976 and MSCE from Columbia University, in 1979. Steve Harwood have designed residential and commercial: low, mid and high-rise buildings in steel and concrete and reinforced concrete masonry. He has performed extensive investigations of deteriorated structures to check adequacy of existing conditions. Many of the structures that were retrofit were early steel frame buildings with cinder concrete slabs or hundred-year-old buildings with cast iron columns or concrete structures with specialized slab systems. Steve also has made numerous designs at major medical centers to alter and reinforce existing structural systems to adapt to new functional requirements or additional stories. Examples of hospital work would be structural designs for new linear accelerators integrating with existing hospital structures, emergency department expansions / additions and overbuilds on existing occupied buildings. In addition, he developed a hardened blast resistant structural system that was used for the new 250,000 square foot structure that houses the FAA Northeast Headquarters in New York City.

Steve is currently the President of SR Harwood Consulting Engineering. The firm of SR Harwood Consulting Engineering, P.C. is a continuation of a long term established New York City firm, Harwood Associates Consulting Engineers, which was founded in 1952. Steven Robert Harwood P.E. was a principal partner of such from 1982. Mr. Harwood was also a principal of Selnick / Harwood Consulting Engineers since its inception in 1993 until forming the firm SR Harwood Consulting Engineering, PC in 2010.

Fayyaz Khan P.E. LEED AP, Mechanical Engineer

Fayyaz Khan is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Georgia. He holds a LEED accreditation in Building Design and Construction (LEED AP). He is an experienced mechanical engineer and has been responsible for designing complex and innovative mechanical, fire protection, fire alarm, and electric systems for several LEED-certified buildings. He is skilled in AutoCAD, HVAC, Plumbing, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Engineering. Fayyaz is strong engineering professional with a Master of Engineering (MEng) focused in Mechanical Engineering from City University of New York City College. He develops creative, comprehensive and sustainable engineering solutions for a future in which society can thrive. Equipped with an intimate understanding of local intricacies and proactive leadership, he plans, designs, manages and engineers long-lasting and impactful solutions to uniquely complex problems. Fayyaz brings a very strong technical background to all of his projects and delivers creative solutions, preserves architectural intent, and protects our clients’ interests and construction budgets.

In addition, he is a personable, efficient communicator who excels in meeting the client’s needs while balancing code requirements and budget concerns. Especially he is vigilant in meeting project deadlines and capable of big picture planning with fine detail coordination. Fayyaz has extensive experience designing and drafting mechanical systems for commercial and residential facilities. He is well-versed in all building and mechanical codes. Furthermore, Fayyaz manages a variety of projects for the firm including Education, Hospitality, Commercial Retail, Office and Residential. He enjoys collaborating in a team and problem solving to find creative MEP solutions appropriate to the challenge. He always strives to achieve efficient and cost-effective design while meeting client expectations.
